The first chapter of 'Gour Jajabar' was published as a short story in a magazine named 'Lalkamal Neelkamal' published by Malini Bhattacharya. Later, on 17/12/1987, it was published along with a few more chapters in the children's section of 'Aajkal'. It was first published as a book from Pratikshan Publications at the Book Fair in January, 1991. It was reprinted a second time for the Book fair in January, 1993. The first Swarnakshar Edition was published at the Calcutta Book Fair, January 1999. The fifth (last) chapter of this book was serialised from April 2012 to April-May 2013 in 'Chelebela'. An extended second edition was introduced at the Calcutta Book Fair January, 2014.
